In 2018 alone, it has been performed for 187 times, received 500,000 tourists and grossed more than 150 million yuan RMB at the box office. Recently, its seventh season has resumed performing.
At present, Tibet has formed a four-level list of cultural industry demonstration zones (bases), including 3 at the national level, 70 at the regional level, 89 the municipal level, and 72 at the county (district) level, covering areas of cultural tourism, ethnic handicrafts, entertainment and so on.
In recent years, the cultural industry in Tibet has gradually formed an industrial development pattern of ethnic handicraft industry represented by Thangka statues, integrated cultural and tourism products represented by ethnic performances, as well as products display and sales represented by the brand of \"cultural and creative Tibet\". According to incomplete statistics, by the end of 2018, there have been more than 6,000 cultural enterprises with over 50,000 employees and an annual output value of 4.6 billion yuan RMB. In the past five years, the output value of Tibet\"s cultural industry has increased from 2.424 billion yuan RMB in 2013 to 4.6 billion yuan RMB in 2018, maintaining an annual growth rate of more than 15% for five consecutive years. The contribution of cultural industry to Tibet\"s economic growth is becoming more and more obvious.
Up to now, Tibet has set up 6 \"trade and service windows of cultural industries with Tibetan characteristics\" in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Changsha and other places, and it is expected to open another 5 windows this year.
In 2013, the large-scale live-action drama Princess Wencheng has been officially staged in Tsechokling Village of Lhasa City. Besides increasing income, it has also provided jobs for thousands of farmers and herdsmen.
Sonam Tsering, 62 years old, has worked in the theater for 7 years, he and his 125 sheep appear on the show. The sheep can earn 12, 500 yuan RMB in a month, and he can earn 75, 000 yuan RMB for his own performances in 6 months. The cultural and tourism industry not only becomes a new economic growth point in Tibet, but also provides opportunities for people to become rich through the integration of culture and tourism.
In 2018, Tibet has received a total of 33.6872 million tourists, realizing an increase of 31.5% year on year, and the tourism revenue has reached 49.014 billion yuan RMB, realizing an increase of 29.2% year on year, two years ahead of schedule to complete the task of “13th Five Year Plan” for tourism development in Tibet.
In 2019, Tibet will highlight the high-quality, all-around, and full-time development concept, make full use of the good opportunities and policies for tourism development in the new era, comprehensively enhance the capacity for tourism development, as well as increase the income of farmers and herdsmen and help them get employed. Besides, Tibet will strive to receive 40 million tourists and realize a tourism revenue of 58 billion yuan RMB.
